Yeah, that was a great thing about being a kid: no baggage associated with playing. Also, btw, this is probably my least favorite aspect of being an employee:

"all the icebreakers and team building exercises and other forms of mandatory, emotionally invasive, and generally inane “fun” that keep us from just doing our jobs"

Solidariity. One of my more terribly memorable workplace experiences was being forced to go to an ice cream social during the hottest part of the day. It took place outside on an unshaded concrete slab in the middle of central Texas. In August. Full-grown adults pretending like they were having a grand time failing to control the drip of melted dairy products and hide sweat stains while battling heat stroke and sunburn. The fantastic, much more health-supporting nap I could've gotten in the space of that hour!
